Isle of Whithorn is situated on the Machars peninsula in open rolling countryside and right on the sea. The nearby town of Whithorn has a number of shops and a well known delicatessen plus a visitor centre charting the recent archaeological excavations and the history of the area as the seat of Christianity in Scotland. Within a short drive there is spectacular rocky coastline, interesting walks and several sandy beaches particularly at nearby Monreith with its 9 hole golf course overlooking the beach.
