Kirkcudbright is a small historic town on the banks of the River Dee. Recently designated as Scotland"s Artists" Town, it has been a mecca for artists over the years and there are a number of exciting galleries and regular major art exhibitions. Beautifully located on the river, the town also boasts a working harbour used by the local fishing fleet and a marina. There is a small swimming pool and a golf course with many other golf courses nearby. Within a short drive are a number of interesting towns and villages and the Solway Coast with its sandy beaches and rocky shoreline is also within easy access.
