Allonby Cottage Reviews
5 star reviewWe have been coming to Kippford for a week long family holiday for more that forty years although not always with the help of Discover Scotland. Allonby Cottage was one of the very best properties we have ever stayed in.
The house was well prepared and comfortable, very well appointed and maintained and the accommodation was excellent and well planned. The large well equipped kitchen was unexpected and the ability to prepare and eat all our meals round the table was most welcome The heating was very good and programmed to fit in with our requirements. Bathing and showering for three generations went well particularly allowing the older couple to stay on the ground floor. The owners' documentation was very good and made us feel very special people. Significantly, we had no problems with any of the equipment and fittings - everything worked perfectly.
To cap it all we discovered the bird feeding facility outside and delighted in visits by Squirrels, scores of birds including a nuthatch (new to us) while a robin (the fat controller) organised the pecking order.
Even the weather was good. Well done.
4 star reviewCottage was as described and clean and tidy. Good location and superb views. Only criticism was the heating... Guests could not change central heating controls and had to contact owner to arrange for the housekeeper to come and turn heating on the following day. A tray of tea/coffee and milk was left as a welcome which is a nice touch but there was no sign of shortbread which was mentioned!😀. Would certainly consider a return visit.
