Chapelton Cottage No 1 Reviews
4 star reviewWe had booked a double and single bed to be made up. When we arrived only the double bed was made. A quick phone call to Pam who looks after the cottage and fresh sheets were delivered to our door.
It was our 6th visit to these cottages and once again although not spotless, they are holiday cottages used by lots of different people, they are still maintained to a high standard.
After our previous visit I left a few comments and it was great to see that my suggestions had been implemented by the team that look after the cottages.
The peaceful location is superb. To be able to walk the dog for an hour and not see anyone is absolute bliss.
We will be visiting again.Thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review - and what a great photo! We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

5 star reviewCottage is always clean and well prepared for us. We have always found it comfortable and it suits our needs admirably. Our granddaughter always loves staying and we all enjoy the views and abundance of wildlife. Caretaker is friendly and helpful checking we have everything we need.
3 star reviewThe cottage, location - lovely view & nice gardens , the cottage it's self is ok, although the hidden extra requirements are not made aware upon booking, so you pay £20 for each pet to go along but they cannot stay in alone, even while u walk 5 minutes down to the bins, you pay extra for cleaning fees , but there's a note in the cottage asking you to clean the cottage , u don't mind cleaning up after yourself at all, but to hoover and strip beds is a little extreme when you pay the fee for this to be done, if you don't mind the odd tarantula either in ur room or behind the head board then your ok, the caretaker is always watching so be good! & dependant on the neighbour next door I guess makes your stay go either way, the local village has a pub - min 20 min walk away , but I wouldn't recommend it, very small and expensive. Nearest town kirkcudbright is lovely - 25 min drive away but again short of restaurants , cafes or a nice country pub , the holiday park "brig house bay" is like pontins southport if you have ever read there reviews and again I wouldn't recommend eating there, the lady on reception is really rude too as online they advertise prices but when you come to pay it's increased by £10 with no explanation, they would rather argue with you. If you go to "boring Borgue" be prepared to drive a minimum of 45 mins to anywhere half decent - best place gatehouse of fleet - Masonic arms .Thank you for your feedback although we are sorry to hear that you did not really enjoy the local area. It is rural and great for outdoors activities, be it walk on the lovely beaches at Sandgreen/Carrick or as you say trips to Kirkcudbright (10 minute drive) or Gatehouse of Fleet (15 minute drive) Both towns have excellent places to eat such as the Selkirk Arms in Kirkcudbright or the various cafes in Gatehouse. If you need sugestions at any time do just let us know.
4 star reviewCottage looking tired and the cooker needs a deep clean, it was covered in fat inside.
Cheap brass hooks on back of bathroom door need replacing with proper hooks.
A few hours of close inspection and very minor touch ups will be a big improvement.
The wood burner and walk in shower are a welcome improvement.
Overall a very nice cottage in need of a bit of a closer inspection.
The location is fantastic, very peaceful and relaxing.
5 star reviewWe visit Dumfries and Galloway regularly and have stayed at Chapelton No 1 for many years now. The refurbishments are lovely and the cottage is comfortable and welcoming. Unfortunately the WiFi in the cottage is hit and miss and we did not have connection all week. No Mobile signal there for anyone who needs it! However we had a great holiday and love the place!! We will be back later in the year!
5 star reviewI can’t fault the holiday the cottage was delightful beautifully clean and had everything we needed. The only downside was the lane is in need of some repair but it did not affect our holidays
4 star reviewIt was a very easy place to find, easy layout and I liked the fact it had easy to use central heating plus an open fire. Lovely to see the sea from the window and really quiet and peaceful. Many thanks for your kind review! We were so pleased to hear how easily you found the cottage. We recently reviewed the directions so it's great to hear they're working!
