Chapelton Cottage No 2 Reviews
5 star reviewThe location of the property was perfect, not far from the main road but quiet and with good outlook over the coast.
The property has been renovated, I would imagine in the past decade, and is very comfortable.
The TV & DVD player are excellent and the wifi was reliable.
The kitchen appeared to be well fitted out, with this being a holiday I didn't really test the fitments to any extent.
The shower is excellent.
The bed was firm but comfortable.
Only one small criticism is that the shed that functions as a bike store could do with a padlock. Whilst I suspect that there hasn't been a burglary in this area for centuries, us bike riders are very protective of our bikes.
The caretaker of the property took effort to make contact and ensure that everything was ok, which was commendable.
Overall I was more than happy with the property and I am seriously considering booking this property again for next year.
1 star reviewIf i could leave less stars i would.
This was the worst holiday we have ever had.
To start with the imformation provided about local places to visit shops etc. Is a fair distance out its not just a short distance down the road its at least a 10 minute drive to the nearest shop.
The images provided of this place is unbelievably deceiving.
The cottage its self wasnt the best. The beds are very poor and the whole place could do with a freshing up.
We spent the whole week being bit by something in property which seems to be flee bites (not nice).
The only good part about this place is the shower to be honest.
This isnt the place for familys looking for a fun break.
I wouldnt recommend this place at all the cottage needs sprucing up and a serious deep clean. We are very sorry to read your comments as they do not reflect the property at all. It is also a disappointment to find that while your parents said that you were having an “absolutely fantastic holiday” when they spoke with the caretaker mid-week, that you now make these derogatory comments. By way of reply to them the description clearly shows that it is a rural property, in this respect a 10 minute drive to the nearest town is not to be unexpected in rural Scotland. The owner takes great pride in the cottages and undertakes regular upgrades, as part of this one bed has recently been provided with a new memory foam mattress and no other recent guests have mentioned a problem with the mattresses. The cottages have also been provided with new wood burning stoves to make them cosier. The current guests have been spoken to about fleas and have confirmed that there is no indication of any biting insects in the cottage at all, or any other problem with the cottages.
5 star reviewApart from the above comment about the garden the cottage was probably the best appointed of all those we've used over many years of Scottish holidays.
Superb bathroom. New HD TV. Comfy beds . Great views . Peace and quiet. Incidentally - Its not your responsibility but the last 100 yards or so to the cottage are the most pit-hole ridden I've ever come across. This is not a complaint but an observation. A word to the local council might be wise before one of your customers damages their suspension !
