Cross Cottage - Gatehouse Of Fleet
Holiday property description
Cross Cottage is a unique listed converted Chapel in a peaceful spot in its own spacious garden ground with superb open views and only a short distance from Gatehouse of Fleet (4 minutes by car and 15 minutes woodland walking).
Completely refurbished and well equipped, Cross Cottage makes an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful and popular area. With full central heating and a woodstove, the cottage is perfect for holidays at any time of the year. Whether your holiday hopes are for a relaxing cosy break, a romantic retreat a deux or a base for fresh air and exercise, then Cross Cottage's individual character, location and facilities are ideal.
Gatehouse of Fleet has an excellent range of hotels and pubs serving food plus 2 well stocked 7 day mini markets. Nearby are the superb sandy beaches of Sandgreen and Mossyard. On the outskirts of the town is a scenic and testing 9 hole golf course with adjacent tennis court and both loch and river fishing are available locally. The quiet roads and tracks surrounding the cottage are ideal for walking and cycling and the Cally oak Woods adjoining are a haven for wildlife; you will be delighted by the common sight of red squirrels in the garden, the rich chorus of birdsong, glimpses of deer, the carpets of snowdrops and bluebells in the Spring and the sight of the Milky Way overhead on clear nights. The nearby Galloway Forest Park was recently given the status of a Dark Skies Park.

Cross Cottage Reviews
5 star reviewOne of the best cottages we have visited. Full of character but also comfortable, well equipped and beautifully warm with plenty of hot water. Lovely views, especially on evenings when they were playing cricket on the pitch behind the cottage. Quiet woodland setting with walks from the door, wild flowers, birds and the occasional red squirrel. What more could you ask for?
