Glenauld Cottage - Kirkcudbright
Sensational Summer Offer: Book 2 consecutive weeks in July & August and a £100 discount will be applied
Holiday property description
This Visit Scotland 3 star graded cottage is dog friendly with enclosed garden, home to a wide variety of wild birds, nice and cosy for 2 but also large enough for 6 people. Located in a peaceful private rural setting sheltered by trees either side, overlooking a hard tennis court which may be used by prior arrangement when available, and countryside to the south. This modernised cottage is adjacent to the stunning tidal Tarff estuary which supports a wide variety of wildlife and can be viewed from the 2008 footpath to Tongland Bridge and Kirkcudbright.
Ideally placed for exploring and enjoying the beautiful varied nearby coastline and beaches to the south and to the north; the attractive hills and forests for bird watching, fishing, picnics, sailing, cycling, walking and water skiing. The picturesque harbour fishing town of Kirkcudbright, 'The Artists' Town', is 2.5 miles and provides, amongst other things, art exhibitions, galleries, boat trips, eating out, golf, fishing, library, medical centre, pubs, indoor swimming pool, specialist shops, vet and wildlife centre. The very popular Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities are one of the highlights of the year.

Glenauld Cottage Reviews
5 star reviewIf you had 6 stars they would get it. Celia and Tom just make you feel so welcome, and part of the family.Wonderful to hear that it shluld be 6*, Tom and Celia work hard to get the cottage just so and will be delighrted to hear how much like it
4 star reviewThe property was good value for money with very friendly owners nearby who were very willing to help us enjoy our holiday.
Well appointed throughout although rather dark in the North-facing rooms because of the close proximity of the high trees.
Nowadays one doesn't expect to have to provide basics such as towels and wifi should standard.
Enjoyed our week very much.
2 star reviewThe house had had a very 70s feel about it in this day and age.
A coat of cheerful wash on the outer walls would make it more welcoming and modern, say lemon or cream, or pale salmon.
The beds were not comfortable
There could have been a lovely view beyond the tennis court, but many of the rather dark trees, especially the holly would be better being cut down and opening the garden and the space up a bit, to let in a bit more light and sunlight.
This criticism is intended to be constructive, so that improvements can be made, rather than complaining as we did have a lovely time there! And you did ask!Thank you for your feedback which has been passed onto the owners. They have let us know that all the items raised will be considered as it does help to have a different perspective. In respect of the beds most people seem to like them but they will spend a night or two in the cottage themselves to check how they feel first hand. Hopefully you still had a wonderful holiday and we would be delighted to assist with your future holiday plans.
