Laghead Steading Cottage Reviews
5 star reviewLaghead Steading cottage was the perfect holiday experience. We booked last minute but we were looked after very well with a lovely addition of flowers on our arrival. The hosts were truly amazing and although have very busy jobs, always found time to chat, offer suggestions for days out when asked and take an interest in our children. The location is idyllic with views across the fields towards Gatehouse of Fleet and on to the coast. There is a good view of The Isle of Man on a clear day. You are able to take walks in the farm land and it is well worth a trip to the Loch as the views are tremendous on this journey. The beach at Mossyard was a favourite with our young children, it was clean, had sand, shells, rock pools and perfect for swimming. The drive through the forest on the 'Raiders Road' is definitely worth checking out. A huge loch and chance for the kids to picnic and paddle their feet in the 'rapids' which are very gentle but great fun. The cottage itself had everything you would need for a self catering holiday and was kept impeccably clean and a very well stocked kitchen - the views from here when cooking are amazing. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathroom well presented with soft towels for all the family. Each day gave a different view with the changes in weather from sunny to misty, a terrific thunder and lightening storm to clear blue skies. We had the most relaxing time away as it is so peaceful but close to many amenities. Crows, Kites, rabbits, sheep and cows were right on the doorstep and Penny, the pet calf was a firm favourite with the kids as she was so friendly. It was a real treat to see the working dogs in action when transferring the cows from field to field - it was like a choreographed ballet but with dogs, cows and a quad bike. I absolutely recommend a stay here and can understand why people book to come again and again!
