Located in 25 acres of parkland on site facilities include free use of the indoor swimming pool and sauna, plus use of the sites bars and restaurant. It is an ideal holiday base for walking, water sports, cycling and bird watching and perfect for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Local attractions include a riding centre and a golf course, castles, gardens, museums and art galleries. Dalbeattie Forest is just 7 miles away. The historic and bustling market towns of Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright and Dumfries are within easy reach and well worth exploring for historic connections to Robbie Burns and earlier Scottish History.  The towns also have a wide selection of shops, restaurants, museums and sports facilities. Everything was wonderful, very thoughtful inclusions, a note from the owners, well kitted kitchen, although we never worked out how to use the grill.
Wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed your stay, very much hope that you will be able to visit again.  If you have nay problems with things like grills do let us or the owner know so that any difficulties can be sorted out for you.

Cottage looks and feels a bit tired. Owners did state some refurb in progress I.e kitchen, which really does need replacing. No lock on downstairs shower room door was quite entertaining when you have kids in and out. Thankfully able to put foot against the door when using toilet. Front door lock needs fixing as a good wind blows it open if not locked. 2 good doubles and four good singles easily sleeps 8.
Kids loved the evening visits from badgers and Fox's. On site swimming pool was good. On site restuarant ok but a bit pricey. Plenty of things to do locally, beach a few minutes walk away.
Overall a good experience just needs money spending to make it 5 star.

I would have rated 5 stars but the property is under renovation and improvements are still ongoing.

Having stayed on the same site now for 11 years consecutively (and 2 years many moons ago) the site is perfectly situated and the house was ideal. It was clean and well positioned,with views to the loch and surrounding countryside. It is like many on site with a family room and 2 doubles with 1 shared bathroom. I chose this one because it was dog friendly and would love to return to see the final outcome of the renovations.
