Mackenzie House - Kirkcudbright
Holiday property description
Fabulous in every season, this self-catering accommodation offers a warm comfortable holiday home for families and friends. A photographer’s dream – large corner windows in the first floor sitting room offer magical views of the historic MacLellan’s Castle, the picturesque harbour and river, plus, a unique perspective of Kirkcudbright’s lively, colourful, civic parades and celebrations.
Holiday home of an artist and architect, the property has been in the artist’s family since 1913. Traditional Scottish and contemporary art adorns the walls. The ample kitchen/dining room was recently modernised and fitted to a very high standard as was the master bedroom and family bathroom. The three charming bedrooms and a cloakroom are on the top floor. Wifi is available throughout the house.
A surprising walled garden with lawn and patio is a safe, sunny place to relax or play. Fruits and flowers can be picked in season.
Traditional shops feature fresh produce, as do the restaurants, pubs and cafes – all within walking distance. Stroll to interesting small boutiques, art galleries, the harbour and the town’s recreational facilities. Short drives to lovely sandy beaches, hiking and cycling trails, sailing, fishing, birdwatching and much, much more…….
'A very convenient location. We have enjoyed our week here. Perfect weather and a nice surprise with the Jazz Festival' Mr & Mrs Moody, Cheshire. June 16
'We have all loved our week here in Kirkcudbright with so much to do right on the doorstep! The food festival was a great start to the week and the local shops are worth a browse too. Our boys enjoyed a visit to the Cream O' Galloway and the Red Kite feeding station at Ballymack Hill Farm, Laurieston was an amazing experience. Our takeaway from Shaad Kitchen was delicious and we recommend the fresh bread from the bakery just down the road.' The Fletcher Family, Cumbria. Oct 2016

Mackenzie House Reviews
4 star reviewCentral location of Mackenzie House with good views of harbour and castle, very close to shops, restaurants, galleries etc. 3 good bedrooms, used by 3 generations of our family this week. Helpful keyholder.
Kirkcudbright is very interesting and close to other small towns, beaches and countryside - we are regular visitors!
5 star reviewThe Mackenzie House is almost a second home for us, this was our fourth visit. Son loved the new TV! Livingroom could perhaps do with being updated but we like the homely look. The garden was much appreciated in the fabulous weather - but I think you need to get the gardener to visit more often when its hot, I just about kept the plants alive.
