Situated in the charming town of Gatehouse of Fleet, this well-equipped terraced house with good sized rear garden is well situated to explore the beautiful Galloway countryside. Pubs, Hotels & Cafes are within walking distance. There are lovely safe sandy beaches nearby at Sandgreen and Mossyard suitable for swimming and water sports. There is excellent bird watching, with the Red kite trail within a short drive.  There are plentiful opportunities for cycling including the Forestry Commission 7Stanes Mountain Bike Network trails, the nearest being at Kirroughtree & walking, whether it is cliff top, forest or hill walking. Golf and tennis are both close by. Fishing on river and lochs are also available locally in season.

The cottage used to be in much better condition. Rubbish/old bottles left outside the back door on arrival, no dust pan and brush and very dusty hoover made it difficult to clean. We had problems with the lock on the back door - the caretaker attempted to fix it which resulted in us unable to unlock it at all for 2 days - so no good if there had been a fire. A few other points already raised in previous correspondence. A shame as its a lovely cottage, very convenient, and just a little more care and attention would bring it back to good condition.
Thank you fory our comments, we do ensure that all guests have the contact details for the property owner/caretaker so that any emergencies or other problems may be dealt with immediately. We are very sorry for the issues that you had and uinderstand from our conversations with your during your holiday that these were resolved as soon as practicable. The items of maintenance and cleaning have been passed to the owner and his cleaner. We will also keep your comments in mind when we next visit the cottage.

The cottage was good enough but in need of a bit more care. It wasn't very clean - carpets needing a good vacuum - and the window in the single bedroom was jammed shut, unfortunate in the very hot weather we had. Exterior paintwork on the street facing windows and door is pretty faded. There was a lot of clutter and non-functioning items like the coffee maker, and knobs and doorhandles loose or coming off. The shed was nearly full making it awkward getting bicycles in, and also occupied by a large wasps' nest. We did appreciate the private garden space. None of this spoilt the holiday and the property is reasonably priced.

Comfortable house, not luxury but good sturdy place - good for family like us with kids and dog. Good base for area where there's lots to do. Lots of games and videos for the kids and open fire was a hit too for toasting marshmallows.

The double bed is uncomfortable and has a very loud screech from the metal frame that woke me and my partner every time one of us moved. The kitchen had a slug infestation every morning.
Thank you for letting us kow about the problems, these will be investigated and pest control asked to deal with the problem as appropriate.
