The Bothy Reviews
5 star reviewWe had a wonderful week at Mossyard. The sun shone all week and we swam in the warm sea at breakfast time and by moonlight. The site was clean and well run. Everything was great and we could not fault it. It was a bonus that we renewed our friendship with the McConchie family
4 star reviewThe accommodation is beautiful and very romantic. Very cosy and rustic yet modern in its facilities. Stunning surroundings too with a beautiful beach, working farm and plenty of wildlife.
Owners are onsite and could not be more pleasant and helpful.
Not a good option for people with reduced mobility, stairs would be difficult to negotiate as limited headroom.
Deducting 1 star for this reason only:
We were staying short break for weekend to attend my cousin's wedding nearby. The wedding ceremony was on the beach which we were told belongs to the owners of this property.
Despite the venue being owned by same family and the fact that we were staying in Mossyard, my wife, who is disabled, was charged to park at the beach car park as were all the wedding guests (who were not warned in advance).
Believe me, this beach would not have been accessible to a disabled person any other way than by car. We told them we were staying at Mossyard, but even we were told to cough up.
It was only £2 but it took the shine off the weekend really, particularly when we realised that the beach access wasn't even restricted to the wedding and a family of bathers turned up, stripped off and got in all of the wedding shots in their swimsuits during the ceremony. All for the sake of £2 parking for a couple of hours. Could have been arranged with the venue owner in advance who is the brother of Mossyard's owner.Mossyard provide accessibility details for all of their properties The Bothy being no exception, the descritpion clearly states that it is not suitable for children or those with limited mobility.
Mossyard is a public beach and therefore irt cannot be closed for a private function, something which the wedding venue are aware of, along with the parking charge. Although owned by members of the same family, Mossyard ad teh wedding venue are entirely seperate businesses.
5 star reviewFantastic, idyllic setting, excellent accommodation with all the best quality equipment and furnishings. The complimentary welcome basket was a lovely thought. All in all, I would recommend this holiday to everyone. Thanks for the 5* review and it is excellent to hear how much you enjoyed your stay.
