The Firs Reviews
2 star reviewLocation was good and the size of the property was good....ideal for a family holiday but the 'Cottage' was very tired. Needs some TLC. On arrival was generally tidy but cleaning could have been more rigorous as we found lots of long black hairs around the property in particular the bathrooms. The cottage lacked some essentials such as wine glasses, one of the rings on the hob didn't work, there was a panel missing from the built in oven and no sweeping brush or mop to clean the floors. All of the blinds need to be renewed as the cords had all snapped and the curtains do not cover the whole window when drawn. The 'jaccuzi' bath didn't work which was very disappointing. The outside furniture was very poor and not really usable (to the point we could not sit outside and enjoy the great views), the grass needed to be cut and the parking area needed some serious weeding. All these things could be expected at the end of a busy holiday season but this was basically the beginning of the summer season so you expect everything to be in good condition and fully working.
The 'landlord' never bothered us and was helpful on our arrival,
Overall this was a disappointing venue and most certainly not value for money. (£700+). I'm not sure whether Discover Scotland do visits to the venues advertised on their sites but if not maybe they should. Quality is key people who holiday in the UK and repeat business a major factor in success. As this was our honeymoon (which Discover Scotland knew) we tried not to let these things spoil a special time for us and whilst we loved the area and the people we will not be returning to The Firs and will think twice about choosing a property advertised on Discover Scotland. June 2017Thanks for taking time to provide us with your feedback. I am sorry it has taken so long to get back to you as we have been taking the items raised to the owner. Feedback does help to make sure that minor items, such as problems with cleaning, toasters or cookers can be attended to a soon as possible for the benefit of all guests, where possible these should be raised during your stay so that you do not need to suffer yourself. The items you have noted have been raised with the owner and will be taken into account at our next property inspection later in the year. We are sorry to see that you don't think that you will use Discover Scotland in future as we did provide you with a discount at the time that you placed your booking, to help you on your way in your new life together, hopefully you may reconsider as we would be delighted to help you with your future holiday plans.
