COVID-19 Update

We are a small, dedicated team who pride ourselves on our commitment to our customers and owners. We have worked hard to achieve Feefo Platinum standard for delivering exceptional customer and we will continue to try to adhere to this even during the crisis that we now have.

With thousands of bookings across 270 properties and their respective owners to liaise with, it’s a huge jigsaw for us to complete, particularly when we can’t be in the office due to the current restrictions. We are trying to be socially responsible & morally fair in discussions with our owners. We have asked them to consider allowing a variation to the booking terms and conditions so that the clause regarding no refunds being made in the case of an epidemic may now be varied during the COVID19 epidemic.

Once we have a response from our owners we will be contacting all our holiday-makers who have not been able to take up their holiday due to the current COVID19 restrictions. In the first instance that will be those holidays falling in the current 3 week period. If this period is extended then we will roll forward until such time as restrictions are lifted.

Please be assured that we will respond to you as soon as possible and we are very grateful for your support and patience at this time

Blates Mill

Castle Douglas
,
Southern Scotland

A 17th Century former mill cottage offering quaint and simple holiday accommodation in an idyllic wooded setting and surrounding grounds of an acre or so., it is not unusual to see Woodpeckers in the garden. Woodhall Loch is just across the road while Loch Ken is only a short drive or a "good walk". The cottage is on the Red Kite trail and within easy reach of the Galloway Forest Park, Britain's first designated Dark Sky Park. Coarse fishing is available by permit on Woodhall Loch. Nearby Loch Ken, which is also an excellent coarse fishery, has the Galloway Activity Centre for dinghy, windsurfing and canoe instruction/hire plus other activities and the Loch Ken Marina with water skiing.
The Galloway Hills are just a short drive away as are the many coves and beaches along the Solway Coast. Castle Douglas known locally as 'The Food Town' and Kirkcudbright known as 'The Artists Town' are within a 20 minute drive both towns offer many independent and interesting shops.

Damage Deposit for care of property

All holiday-makers booking a holiday are required to pay either a Damage Deposit, £150 or as noted in the property listing details, or Damage Deposit waiver of £18, whichever is selected is required to be paid with the balance payment of the holiday. Where selected the Damage Deposit will be held by Discover Scotland to be applied against the reasonable costs of repairs, replacement or additional cleaning of furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glass, bedding and towels damaged or soiled other than by normal wear and tear during the holiday. The Damage Deposit, less any reasonable charges, will be returned within 14 days of the departure date. Where any costs exceed the Damage Deposit the holiday-maker will pay such excess as notified to them by Discover Scotland within 14 days of notification.
