Braidwood offers spacious accommodation for 9 and is ideal for family gatherings. Located in a lovely private setting on the edge of Lochside Park which encompasses Carlingwark Loch, on the outskirts of Castle Douglas with easy access to all of the towns amenities with its array of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The town also has a Theatre which doubles as a cinema, Swimming pool and 18 hole golf course, all within easy reach of Braidwood. The house has been carefully refurbished, with a private garden including a gate giving direct access to the park and loch. The garage is available for storing bikes, canoes and golf clubs. Carlingwark Loch provides opportunities for course fishing (no permit required), canoeing, kayaking and bird watching. There are also 2 children play areas within the park and several walks around the Loch and surrounding countryside of varying lengths.

The house makes an excellent base for exploring Southern Scotland with the Solway Coast's sandy beaches and rocky coves close by, as is Loch Ken for a more extensive selection of water based activities and excellent coarse fishing. The Galloway Forest Park, (also nominated as Britain's first Dark Sky Park) provides plentiful tracks and trails for walkers and mountain bikers of all abilities. It is excellent for star gazing due to the low levels of light pollution and also bird watching including a Red Kite Trail. Slightly further afield are the nationally important wildfowl reserves of RSPB Mersehead and Caerlaverock WWT
