The Southern Upland Way long distance footpath gives access to vast areas of hill country and Loch Ken with its Activity Centre and Marina, and with excellent coarse fishing, is a short drive away. The cottage is in the heart of the Galloway Forest Park ensuring peace and tranquillity with easy access to Forestry Commission trails to allow unrivalled opportunities for outdoor pursuits and seeing the wildlife of the area including Red Kites, Ospreys and even possibly Golden Eagles. The Ospreys regularly visit the near by Loch Doon to nest and there is a small cafe with an Osprey observatory with a web cam link to the nest.
