Situated in a quiet location on a working stock farm on the edge of the small village of Borgue, near Kirkcudbright. With open views across rolling fields from the windows, views across Kirkandrews Bay visible from the garden, whilst the hot tub offers the opportunity for some amazing star gazing, this semi-detached cottage is ideally located for exploring the nearby Artists Town of Kirkcudbright, and the wider area of Dumfries & Galloway.

The Solway Coast is close by, the beach itself is accessible via a path from the nearby hamlet of Kirkandrews. There are numerous beaches and rugged cliff tops along the coastline to explore, the vast expanse of sandy beach at Brighouse Bay is a within a short drive, or Carrick with its vast rock formations offers ideal for rock pooling opportunities. Inland is the vast expanse of the Galloway Forest Park nominated Britain's first Dark Sky Park, offering unrivalled opportunities for star gazing due to the low light pollution. Within easy reach of the cottage there are sporting facilities including game, sea and coarse fishing. mountain biking opportunities at Kirroughtree, a stage of the 7stanes Mountain Bike trails, with others a little further afield at Dalbeattie, Mabie & Ae Forests. There are numerous opportunities for walking be your preference for beach & cliff top walks or more strenuous hill walking. Golfing is available nearby at Brighouse Bay, Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse of Fleet with a wider choice of courses across Dumfries and Galloway all within easy reach.

The nearby town of Kirkcudbright is well worth an explore and offers a full programme of events throughout the year including a Jazz Festival, Tattoo, Scottish Nights, Festival of Light and Arts & Craft Trail weekend to name a few. The National Trust for Scotland property Broughton House and Garden, home of the renowned artist E.A. Horne is well worth a visit for the garden alone, with other National Trust and Historic Scotland sites within an easy drive. The multi-million-pound Art Gallery enhances the towns links to The Glasgow Boys and Girls. There are many areas of conserved architecture to wander around and welcoming cafes to rest at. Kirkcudbright has a busy working harbour and marina and the boats are a very impressive sight when alongside. For eating out, the village of Borgue has a hotel which offers meals, but as it does get busy it is advisable to book in advance. There are a wider range of eateries in the nearby towns of Kirkcudbright, Gatehouse of Fleet and Castle Douglas.

Slightly further afield the market town of Castle Douglas offers a variety of independent shops, along with a theatre which doubles as a cinema. A trip to Cream o' Galloway is a must to taste one of their many flavours of ice cream, which along with cheese, they produce from the milk of their own dairy herd. Ice cream and cheese making workshops are available to book, they also offer nature trails and crazy golf for all ages. The Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory in the village of Twynholm offers indoor and outdoor play areas, a large cafe and the opportunity to take part in a chocolate workshop. Slightly further afield, located on Loch Ken is Galloway Activity Centre which offers a wide variety of water and land-based activities.

All in all there really is something for everyone.

Damage Deposit for care of property

All holiday-makers booking a holiday are required to pay either a Damage Deposit, £150 or as noted in the property listing details, or Damage Deposit waiver of £20, whichever is selected is required to be paid with the balance payment of the holiday. Where selected the Damage Deposit will be held by Discover Scotland to be applied against the reasonable costs of repairs, replacement or additional cleaning of furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glass, bedding and towels damaged or soiled other than by normal wear and tear during the holiday. The Damage Deposit, less any reasonable charges, will be returned within 14 days of the departure date. Where any costs exceed the Damage Deposit the holiday-maker will pay such excess as notified to them by Discover Scotland within 14 days of notification. Where the holiday-maker has agreed to pay the Damage Deposit Waiver the Damage Deposit is not payable. This amount is non-refundable. If the cost of any damage or breakages exceeds the applicable Damage Deposit value for the property, then the holiday-maker will be liable for any additional costs. Any such excess will be notified to them by Discover Scotland and due for payment within 14 days of notification.

All bookings require either a refundable Damage Deposit £150 or as per the property details or £20 non refundable Damage Deposit Waiver.
