Offering comfortable holiday accommodation, Sanderlings is situated in Toberonochy on the Isle of Luing with views across Shuna Sound to Shuna Island and the Mainland. Once a busy slate quarrying settlement, Toberonochy is now a peaceful and picturesque harbour village with easy access to the local slate beaches and piers and with views across Cuan Sound to Seil Island.

Though the island measures only 6 miles long by 1.5 miles wide, there is plenty to keep holidaymakers entertained. Opened in 2015, the Atlantic Islands Centre is a must for the itinerary, offering tourist information and local history, showcasing local crafters and selling their work. Upstairs is a permanent heritage exhibition and the café there is licenced and has a snack menu with locally sourced seafood. The delicious cakes are all made by the Isle of Luing Bakery. There is a well-stocked village store and post office near Cullipool also stocking freshly baked breads from the Bakery.
Being an island, the sea is always very close to hand and both fishing and wildlife boat trips can be arranged from Cullipool Harbour. Depending on the weather, the Isle of Luing Coastal Rowing club also offer beginners rowing sessions (donation required) aboard their Shetland skiffs Virda and Hinba.

There are a number of walks on the island including a circular walk of roughly 3.5 miles taking in the island’s quiet coastline and what remains of the slate quarrying industry. For the adventurous walker, one lap of the island equates to just over 15 miles. An evening stroll around Cullipool is also a must as the village is famous for breath-taking sunsets over Mull and the Garvellachs Islands. For those who prefer a faster pace, bike hire is available from Luing Bike Hire.

Ferries regularly leave Luing for the neighbouring Seil Island which offers easy access back to mainland Scotland via the Clachan Bridge (Bridge over the Atlantic.) Once there Oban, the seafood capital of Scotland and gateway to the Isles is only a 40 minute drive.

Damage Deposit for care of property

All holiday-makers booking a holiday are required to pay either a Damage Deposit, £150 or as noted in the property listing details, or Damage Deposit waiver of £18, whichever is selected is required to be paid with the balance payment of the holiday. Where selected the Damage Deposit will be held by Discover Scotland to be applied against the reasonable costs of repairs, replacement or additional cleaning of furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glass, bedding and towels damaged or soiled other than by normal wear and tear during the holiday. The Damage Deposit, less any reasonable charges, will be returned within 14 days of the departure date. Where any costs exceed the Damage Deposit the holiday-maker will pay such excess as notified to them by Discover Scotland within 14 days of notification. Where the holiday-maker has agreed to pay the Damage Deposit Waiver the Damage Deposit is not payable. This amount is non-refundable. If the cost of any damage or breakages exceeds the applicable Damage Deposit value for the property, then the holiday-maker will be liable for any additional costs. Any such excess will be notified to them by Discover Scotland and due for payment within 14 days of notification.

All bookings require either a refundable Damage Deposit £150 or as per the property details or £18 non refundable Damage Deposit Waiver.
