Luxury holiday bolthole in a single storey former foresters’ cottage with accessible accommodation for 5 and graded 5* by Visit Scotland offers luxurious, contemporary open plan accommodation with every detail thought of allowing you to switch off from every day and reconnect with nature.

The spacious accommodation is light and airy with an excellent standard of finish and has been built on a fabric-first approach ensuring that it has a low environmental impact. Nothing has been spared and the cottage has a Wood Burning stove and underfloor heating for cosy nights in while the fully fitted kitchen with every appliance and gadget imaginable is ideal for dining preparations when you are not eating out. The living area includes a window wall to the garden making it the perfect place to relax while the patio door leads to the west facing patio and garden where you can sit and become immersed in the sights and sounds of the surrounding tranquil woodland setting. An ideal spot to unplug from the pressures of ‘the usual wheel of day-to-day life.’ The principal shower room is fitted with grab rails and a shower seat, making it fully accessible to wheelchair users and those with mobility issues, whilst all bathrooms feature local and organic skin care products for an added touch of luxury. The pretty private garden features a garden area for every county Slackbrae is or has been in: the Forester’s Clackmannanshire garden, the Knight’s Fife garden, and the Lamb’s Perthshire herbs garden.

With Eco Tourism at its heart, History and Wildlife tours of the surrounding Estate can be booked for an additional charge. There are cycle routes from the door which allow you to explore the immediate area and link to public transport in Alloa for those wishing to travel further afield without the need for a car.

Well worth a visit are The Kelpies, icons of Scottish Folklore, these majestical feats of engineering stand over 100 feet tall, beside the Forth & Clyde canal, combined with a canal boat trip on the Falkirk wheel is a great day out for those of all ages. If you get the opportunity to enter the Kelpies, then do so. The best way to admire the workmanship above is by lying on the floor. St Andrews the ‘Home of Golf’ and the East Neuk of Fife are easily accessible for a day trip to the coast, with Scotland’s Secret Bunker, this historical site of a cold war operations centre allows you to experience the life of those who kept the UK safe at the time.

For those looking to explore Scotland’s rich history and culture the city of Stirling is less than a 30-minute drive away. Stirling Castle has played a key role in Scotland’s history over the centuries and is well worth a visit, as are the views from The Wallace Monument surveying the lands where William Wallace victoriously led his troops at the battle of Stirling Bridge. With more colourful history at the Battle of Bannock Burn where Robert the Bruce famously defeated King Edward II of England. The cosmopolitan cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh are less than an hour away and have good train links from nearby Alloa.
