WE EXTEND A WARM WELCOME TO VIOLET GROVE, RECENTLY ADDED TO OUR PORTFOLIO

This semi detached cottage commands stunning views across Carlingwark Loch and Lochside Park, although on the edge of the town of Castle Douglas it is just a 5 minute walk into the town centre of this small, rural market town and offers to all amenities. These include a range of interesting independent shops, art galleries, community run theatre which doubles as a cinema, cafes, restaurants & pubs.

Violet Grove provides a superb base from which to explore South West Scotland including the Solway Coast with outstanding sandy beaches and cliff top walks within a 20-minute drive. Water sports are available on the Solway and also on nearby Loch Ken at the Galloway Activity Centre. Fishing is available locally, whether it be Game, Course or Sea fishing. The National Trust for Scotland's Threave Estate is on the edge of the town where the House and surrounding gardens offer an oasis of tranquillity. The Estate offers the chance to see Ospreys at work in the summer months. A visit to Threave Castle is a must, with a trip across the river by boat to reach the castle. For the more naturalist there are a number of Core Paths around Threave Estate which offer fascinating views of the surrounding countryside and wetlands, with the Red Kite Trail also close to the town and slightly further afield are the nationally important wildfowl reserves of Mersehead and Caerlaverock.

The town has its own Swimming Pool and an 18-hole golf course, with this being Scotland golf is never far away and numerous others are within easy reach. Sections of the Forestry Scotland 7 Stanes Mountain Bike Trails are easily accessible, the nearest being in Dalbeattie, with Kirroughtree near Newton Stewart and both Ae and Mabie near Dumfries within an easy Drive.

For the younger generation, Ernespie Farm offers both indoor and outdoor play areas along with a café with delicious offerings for all ages. Slightly further afield is The Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory which has both indoor & outdoor play areas and offers Chocolate Making workshops; Cream o’ Galloway where you can partake of their renown ice cream, wander around their nature trails, take a Farm Tour or participate in a Cheese making or Ice Cream making workshop; The Wee Pottery in Kirkcudbright or a visit to Moat Brae, the former home of J M Barrie, author of Peter Pan in Dumfries are ideal for the days with less inclement weather.
