Enjoy the views and peacefulness offered by this cosy country cottage with rural seclusion but only 6 miles from the busy harbour town of Oban, the cottage makes a wonderful secluded Highland hideaway in the peaceful Lerags Glen. The spacious accommodation makes a comfortable holiday base for families and couples alike.
As you begin to wind your way down the glen on the quiet single-track road you get a sense of the tranquillity and landscapes you are about to enjoy. You will pass the renowned Barn Bar and Restaurant, where you can enjoy hearty local fare and a range of cask ales, along with a warm welcome from the locals.
The beautiful panoramic views from this cosy cottage are best enjoyed from the spacious triple aspect sitting room, where you can sit and enjoy a quiet drink by the log burning stove and watched the shadows lengthen across the glen. The Large windows provide expansive vistas across the surrounding fields, hillsides dotted with sheep and the beautiful woodlands beyond.
The area has an abundance of wildlife including red and roe deer, red squirrel, pine martin, occasional sea eagles overhead and otters in the nearby burn and sea loch (Loch Feochan), some 500m to the west.
Oban is an atrtactive and busy town with excellent seafood restaurants, pubs and bars providing lively traditional music and Ceilidh (Kaylee) events throughout the year. A country pub is a short way up the glen and offers excellent cooked food and ales with informal music nights during the season.
The West Coast is a unique area to explore with stunning seascapes at every turn and only a short drive takes you in to the dramatic highlands with famous Glens such as Glen Coe near by. There is wonderful walking opportunities for all abilities and the coast line in the area was used for filming Ring of Brightwater and also scenes from Enigma (based on the book by Robert Harris). Rigourous adventure activities are available including climbing, wild rafting and gorge jumping with winter sports and Ski opportunities at Glen Coeand Fort William.
The local towns of Oban, Inveraray and Lochgilphead are all well served with interesting historic sites together with shops and restaurants making each a worthwhile destination for a day trip, ferries operate from Oban making an Island Hop day out possible to Mull and other Hebredian Isles.
