Cot Cottage is a fabulous contemporary holiday house for 10, finished and furnished to luxury standards. The house has balconies giving stunning views and a large hot tub on the veranda/patio of the house. Cot Cottage is set in a private rural location but is only a few minutes’ drive from the busy market town at Castle Douglas.
The house is set in 11 acres and has views to a small private loch and beyond to Screel Hill and the distant Lake District’s Skiddaw. The location is perfect for making the most of all that South West Scotland has to offer with some of the best opportunities in the UK for hill walking, mountain biking and water sports, together with getting immersed in Scotland's History and Heritage with visits to renowned gardens, Castles and ancient sites. Wildlife is on the doorstep with a chance to glimpse deer, badgers, otters, red squirrels and in the air, you will be able to watch the soaring and cart wheeling Red Kites. The area is well recognised for its clear skies, as one of the 12 best stargazing sites in the world and the first Dark Sky Park in the UK.
The areas ancient towns are well worth exploring with Castle Douglas, Gatehouse of Fleet and Kirkcudbright all within a short drive. Gatehouse of Fleet offers a range of places to eat and drink, and there are many attractions in and around the town including the ‘Mill on the Fleet’ Visitor Centre, Galloway Lodge with its local produce and restaurant and Cardoness Castle. Kirkcudbright makes for a fascinating day out with its strong artists community dating back to the “Glasgow Boys and Girls”, it now has a modern art gallery with free entry to all and numerous private art galleries and workshops; while down at the harbour working fishing boats come and go all set against the historic high street and small enticing wynds. There is a popular programme of summer festivities culminates with the spectacular Kirkcudbright Tattoo, which draws crowds form far and wide.

Damage Deposit for care of property

All holiday-makers booking a holiday are required to pay either a Damage Deposit, £150 or as noted in the property listing details, or Damage Deposit waiver, whichever is selected is required to be paid with the balance payment of the holiday. Where selected the Damage Deposit will be held by Discover Scotland to be applied against the reasonable costs of repairs, replacement or additional cleaning of furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glass, bedding and towels damaged or soiled other than by normal wear and tear during the holiday. The Damage Deposit, less any reasonable charges, will be returned within 14 days of the departure date. Where any costs exceed the Damage Deposit the holiday-maker will pay such excess as notified to them by Discover Scotland within 14 days of notification. Where the holiday-maker has agreed to pay the Damage Deposit Waiver the Damage Deposit is not payable. This amount is non-refundable. If the cost of any damage or breakages exceeds the applicable Damage Deposit value for the property, then the holiday-maker will be liable for any additional costs. Any such excess will be notified to them by Discover Scotland and due for payment within 14 days of notification.

All bookings require either a refundable Damage Deposit £150 or as per the property details or £20 non refundable Damage Deposit Waiver.
