Port William is a popular holiday village with its charming little harbour and quiet streets. The village has local shops, restaurant and hotel. There are plenty of walks from the village and access to a pebble beach with superb views over Luce Bay to the Isle of Man, Mull of Galloway and on a clear day to the Mourne Mountains.

The local area has many places worthy of a visit including Glenluce Abbey, Logan Botanic Gardens, Mull of Galloway Lighthouse and Dunskey Gardens with its famous maze, Bladnoch Distillery should also not be missed.

Scotland is renowned for being a golfers paradise and a stay at Dourie Farmhouse “putts” you close (even a novice couldn’t miss the hole) to unforgettable and unique greens and fairways such as St Medan Golf Club, Port William with it’s 18 tees but only 9 holes and views over the beautiful shores of Monreith Beach or Wigtownshire County Golf Club, Glenluce a true 18 hole links course situated on the shores of Luce Bay making it testing golf for both high and low handicappers, or the charming Dunskey Golf Club, Portpatrick just a 40-minute scenic coastal drive from Port William is worth the trip to experience the stunning cliff top setting looking out over the Irish Sea.

Star gazing is possible from the house itself but a trip to the nearby Galloway Forest Park also provides excellent conditions with it’s dark sky status. The forest is also superb for bird and wildlife watching, walking and of course Mountain Biking on the Forestry Commission's 7 Stanes trails. There are numerous opportunities in the locality for hill walking and other outdoor activities including fishing and horse riding.

Whether you are looking for a peaceful retreat or busy family holiday Dourie Farmhouse provides a superb location to relax, recharge and explore South West Scotland.
