A delightful cottage on a working farm (close to the owner's farmhouse) with large courtyard to rear and only a short distance from the market town of Castle Douglas. The owners are very keen and enthusiastic gardeners
Visitors are very welcome to wander through them to explore and enjoy.
Castle Douglas known as the 'Food Town' has a wide selection of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs for eating out, a swimming pool & gym, theatre (which combines as a cinema), library and an 18 hole golf course. Threave Estate (part of National Trust for Scotland) lies on the edge of the town where the gardens and house are well worth a visit, as is Threave Castle.
The cottage is an ideal centre from which to explore the whole of Galloway with its choice of walks, choose from cliff top, forest or more strenuous hill walks. Fishing opportunities abound be it Sea, Loch or River. There are many beaches within a short drive of the cottage. The Forestry Commission 7Stanes Trails are located throughout the region with the nearest being at Dalbeattie (about 15 minutes by car) with others at Dumfries & Newton Stewart. Golf courses are plentiful throughout the area.

Damage Deposit for care of property

All holiday-makers booking a holiday are required to pay either a Damage Deposit, £150 or as noted in the property listing details, or Damage Deposit waiver, whichever is selected is required to be paid with the balance payment of the holiday. Where selected the Damage Deposit will be held by Discover Scotland to be applied against the reasonable costs of repairs, replacement or additional cleaning of furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glass, bedding and towels damaged or soiled other than by normal wear and tear during the holiday.
