JUST ADDED TO OUR PORTFOLIO WITH VIEWS WHICH WILL TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY!

This detached cottage is superbly situated with breath taking, panoramic, sea views across Wigtown Bay and the Solway Firth to the Lake District and beyond. If peace and tranquillity are for you then you will not be disappointed. Some of the finest landscapes and scenery that have inspired Scotland’s authors and poets are on your doorstep.

Located just 5 miles west of the picturesque, small rural town of Gatehouse of Fleet the cottage is the perfect base for exploring all that the area has to offer. Gatehouse provides numerous opportunities for eating out, small shops, a delightful and testing nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, river and loch fishing. As the area is situated on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park, nominated Britain’s first Dark Sky Park, a clear night will present amazing opportunities for star gazing with the naked eye.

Sandy beaches and rocky coves for bathing, windsurfing, paddle boarding, kayaking and sailing are aplenty, with nearby Mossyard beach only being about 5 minutes away by car; sea fishing and horse riding are also available nearby; the Forestry & Land Scotland 7Stanes mountain biking trail at Kirroughtree is around 20 minutes' drive away; and the area is a haven for wildlife, with regular sightings of deer and red kites.

There are numerous nearby attractions and activities for both adults and children, including Cream o' Galloway where you can participate in ice cream and cheese making workshops, stroll round their nature trails and of course enjoy delicious ice cream afterwards. The Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory offers both indoor and outdoor play areas and chocolate making workshops. Galloway Activity Centre offers both land and water-based activities on the shores of Loch Ken.

Slightly further afield but well worth a visit are; Kirkcudbright known as the Artist's Town due to its links with the Glasgow Boys. The town is also home to the Dark Sky Planetarium, Kirkcudbright Galleries, a cookery school, community run swimming pool, 18-hole golf course, and an array of independent shops and eateries. The small town of Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town is a must for all bookworms, both young and old. To the east is the popular market town of Castle Douglas, with its vibrant high street of unique independent shops, cafes and restaurants, theatre and cinema, swimming pool and golf course. NTS Threave Estate is located on the edge of the town with Threave House & Gardens and Threave Castle all worth a visit. Also worthy of a visit are Logan Botanical Gardens with varied species and specimens supported due to the mild climate that the area has from the effect of the Atlantic Gulf Stream. For those who fancy sampling a local tipple there are several Gin & Whisky distilleries within easy reach and include Dark Sky Distillery in Kirkcudbright, Crafty Distillery at Newton Stewart and Bladnoch Distillery near Wigtown.

All around Dumfries and Galloway you will find evidence of its rich archaeological, historical, literary and artistic past in its earthworks, standing stones, towers, castles, abbeys and other monuments. Whithorn, on the southern tip of the Machars peninsula, is the seat of Christianity in Scotland; Lochmaben was the birth place of Robert the Bruce; Dumfries provided a home and resting place for Robert Burns; Thomas Carlyle was born in Ecclefechan; Kirkpatrick Macmillan invented the bicycle near Thornhill; Sanquhar boasts the oldest active Post Office in Scotland and J M Barrie conceived the well-loved story ‘Peter Pan’ in Dumfries.
