Kenmure Kennels ensures privacy and peace for a perfect rural escape with views down Loch Ken to the hills beyond. The spacious accommodation is over two floors and includes both a snug and more formal sitting room together with a separate suite of double bedroom; single room and bathroom making the house a superb holiday base for both family and large group holidays.

There is direct access via a short walk from the house to the shores of Little Kenmure Loch which leads into Loch Ken, a popular water sports location and perfect for wild swimming, canoeing, paddle boarding and sailing. The ruins of Kenmure Castle are close to the house and walks from the door lead to the Galloway Forest and back to the Royal Burgh of New Galloway. Please note that dogs should be kept on leads due to farm stock and wildlife.

The house is on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park making it a superb location for star gazing as it is one of only four Dark Sky Parks in the UK.

New Galloway is full of character is the smallest Royal Burgh in the country, it has a busy arts centre and an excellent community run Deli, good selection of cafes and tea rooms and Inns for eating out. Castle Douglas which is the areas main Market Town is a 20 minute drive with a good range of independent shops, delis, cafes, pubs and restaurants.

Outdoor activities are numerous and with the Galloway Forest Park on the doorstep which is ideal for biking with easy access to all the 7Stanes trails and walking, so you are spoilt for choice. If you prefer coastal walks the Solway Firth's empty beaches and captivating cliffs are close to hand. A full range of water sports are available at Loch Ken including sailing, canoeing, fishing and the Galloway Activity Centre offers hire and teaching facilities for both land and water based activities.

Galloway is often described as the forgotten gem of Scotland with its wide open spaces, numerous lochs, open moorland, forests, beaches as well as great facilities for walking, horse riding and cycling and other outdoor pursuits such as golf, fishing and shooting not to mention the chance to see the 10,000s of wintering geese or the wonderful Red Kites at any time of year and not to mention the chance to see a golden eagle if you are very lucky.

Kenmure Kennels accepts bookings with an any day arrival and short breaks are welcome throughout the year, except for July and August when bookings are for full weeks only Saturday to Saturday, during these months short breaks will be accepted if booked within 28 days of arrival

Note: All beds are made up using feather duvets and pillows, non allergenic bedding can be provided and should be requested this at the time of booking. Bookings only accepted for family groups or a group of couples with a lead guest aged 22 or older. No single sex groups & no parties allowed without prior agreement. Dogs must be kept on the ground floor of the house and in the Entrance Hall at night. There will be a minimum £50 cleaning fee if dogs are found to have been in bedrooms or on furnishings.

Damage Deposit for care of property

All holiday-makers booking a holiday are required to pay either a Damage Deposit, £150 or as noted in the property listing details, or Damage Deposit waiver, whichever is selected is required to be paid with the balance payment of the holiday. Where selected the Damage Deposit will be held by Discover Scotland to be applied against the reasonable costs of repairs, replacement or additional cleaning of furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glass, bedding and towels damaged or soiled other than by normal wear and tear during the holiday. The Damage Deposit, less any reasonable charges, will be returned within 14 days of the departure date. Where any costs exceed the Damage Deposit the holiday-maker will pay such excess as notified to them by Discover Scotland within 14 days of notification. Where the holiday-maker has agreed to pay the Damage Deposit Waiver the Damage Deposit is not payable. This amount is non-refundable. If the cost of any damage or breakages exceeds the applicable Damage Deposit value for the property, then the holiday-maker will be liable for any additional costs. Any such excess will be notified to them by Discover Scotland and due for payment within 14 days of notification.
