Lorimer Apartment is in an idyllic setting on the edge of the village of Taynuilt, surrounded by outstanding natural beauty. Secluded and peaceful, this delightful ground floor self-catering apartment blends traditional character with modern facilities to offer the perfect setting in which to relax and unwind after days out exploring the Scottish highlands and near by Oban or on a day trip to the Island of Mull.

Lorimer is a large, ground floor self-catering apartment forming part of the glorious Lonan House. Fully renovated and newly decorated to a high standard, this extremely spacious one-bedroom holiday home creates an idyllic retreat for those looking to experience all this naturally beautiful area of Argyll has to offer. The large and instantly appealing open plan living room with its grand original wooden fireplace surrounded by deep sofas, generous dining area and stylish kitchen is bright and airy, yet inviting and comfortable allowing you to quickly relax into holiday mood. The super-king size bedroom is perfect for relaxed mornings, and evenings can be spent snuggled up in front of the cosy wood burning stove while enjoying a glass of wine or perhaps a local Oban malt whisky.

Lonan House enjoys a glorious Scottish setting with stunning views to Ben Cruachan, Argyll’s highest mountain. Designed by Sir Robert Lorimer and built in 1906, this impressive Edwardian mansion is full of romantic highland character and retains many of its original Arts & Crafts features. This is a wonderful holiday destination for dog owners and guests are invited to enjoy the large surrounding landscaped garden, complete with croquet lawn and pond, extended grounds and woodland which give a wonderful sense of space and freedom. Deer are often seen grazing around the house and this magical spot is home to amazing wildlife including red squirrels, otters and pine marten. Keen birdwatchers will delight at the huge variety of birds including the chance to see golden and white-tailed sea eagles or the beautiful black grouse. There are endless walks to be discovered right from the doorstep and many wonderful panoramic views across the glen to Mull in the West, Loch Etive in the North and Loch Awe in the East. Glen Lonan is part of National Cycle Route 78, The Caledonia Way, stretching 234 miles through stunning Scottish countryside.

Quiet days can be spent relaxing in the surrounding peace, or the nearby harbour town of Oban offers a good range of shops, local attractions and excellent restaurants, many of which serve freshly caught seafood. During the summer the town comes alive with a host of festivals and ceilidhs, attracting bagpipers, highland dancers and traditional musicians from all over the world. There are numerous exciting day trips to be enjoyed including ferries to the beautiful inner Hebridean islands including Mull and Tiree.

The village of Taynuilt is within walking distance (1 mile) and has a train station with regular trains to Glasgow, Oban and Dalmally. Also, it has a well stocked grocery shop, butchers, post office and tea-room. There is a nine-hole course for the golf enthusiast and lovely walks along the piers at Loch Etive.
