Gatehouse of Fleet has excellent facilities and local attractions while also being perfectly placed to make an excellent base for exploring the surrounding beautiful Galloway countryside and Forest/Dark Sky Park. The towns interesting selection of shops, Pubs, Hotels & Cafes are all within walking distance and the attractive Cally Palace wood and riverside walks are close by as well.. The lovely safe sandy beaches at nearby Sandgreen and Mossyard are suitable for swimming and water sports. The variety of activities in the area is exceptional with superb bird watching opportunities and the spectacular Red kite trail within a short drive. There are plentiful opportunities for cycling including the Forestry Commission 7Stanes Mountain Bike Network trails, the nearest being at Kirroughtree & walking, whether it is cliff top, forest or hill walking. Golf and tennis are both close by. Fishing on river and lochs are also available locally in season.
