Southern Scotland

The Fish House is at the end of a quiet country lane in the hamlet of Tongland near Kirkcudbright, the characterful cottage is finished to a high standard throughout and has views to the River Dee making it the perfect restful holiday base.
The detached cottage has been renovated and upgraded using stone from the ruins of the original Fish House that dated back to 1825 to provide a spacious and contemporary holiday cottage while retaining the character of the original building. The upgrade makes the most of the location and the Sitting room and kitchen are light and bright. The luxury finish includes reclaimed solid wood doors and ironmongery throughout but with all the modern finishes and fittings that are expected of a newly built property including underfloor heating.
The local area is renowned for its stunning landscapes which include rugged sea shores intermixed with quite sandy beaches and travelling inland to the Galloway Forest Park with extensive walking/mountain bike trails and not to forget the Lochs and Mountains to explore in the wider area. Water sports are available in Kirkcudbright and also at near by Loch Ken which has an activity centre open to the public. Golf is widely available with a variety of courses from the hilly Kirkcudbright Course to the charming parkland course at Gatehouse of Fleet.
Kirkcudbright is the Capital of the Stewartry Area as the local surrounds are historically known. It is now an attractive harbour town with views over the Dee and is a thriving centre for arts and crafts. There are connections to the “Glasgow Boys and Girls” and this heritage runs through the town including private galleries and also the public Kirkcudbright Gallery which hosts a wide range of exhibitions. The town has a good range of local shops and also a swimming pool. The town is Beautifully located on the river, and still has a working harbour used by the local fishing fleet and a yacht marina.
