118 High Street is a lovely spacious traditional town house over 3 floors, comfortably sleeping 8 making an ideal base for families or groups. With a large kitchen and dining area with French Doors leading into the conservatory with a wood burner, a separate Living Room, ground floor bedroom and toilet, 3 spacious bedrooms on the first floor, accompanied by a games room on the second floor along with the private garden there is plenty of space for everyone.

Kirkcudbright is a well-established base for art lovers, with numerous galleries and is known locally as 'Artists Town'. Every year the recently established Kirkcudbright Galleries hosts a major exhibition of visiting art work.A short walk from the house is the National Trust for Scotland's Broughton House and garden, the former home of artist E.A. Hornel, Historic Scotland's McClellan Castle and the romantic Greyfriars Church together with the bustling life of Kirkcudbright Harbour and Marina. The town offers a variety of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants all within walking distance.

The popular Summer Festivities Programme run throughout the summer months and one is never short of things to do in and around the town, with events such as the Scottish Nights in the Harbour Square on a Thursday evening and the annual Tattoo at the end of August. There are superb sandy beaches within easy reach, numerous golf courses and wonderful walking and cycling opportunities in this unspoilt area.

Children are very welcome. For the young at heart there is the Wee Pottery in the town where you can decorate a choice of pottery; the town’s Dark Sky Planetarium offers the opportunity to discover more about our night skies; a visit to the nearby Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory is a must with its chocolate making workshops and both indoor and outdoor play areas. Cream o’ Galloway renowned for its Ice Cream offers cheese and ice cream making workshops, or you can wander around its nature trails rounded off with an ice cream! The Galloway Activity Centre on nearby Loch Ken is within easy reach offers both land and water-based activities.

The lovely rural towns of Castle Douglas and Newton Stewart are well worth a visit. Enjoy exploring the beautiful Solway Coast and inland the Galloway Forest Park and wildlife watching with the well-established Red Kite Trail where you are guaranteed to see these fascinating birds.

Damage Deposit for care of property

All holiday-makers booking a holiday are required to pay either a Damage Deposit, £150 or as noted in the property listing details, or Damage Deposit waiver, whichever is selected is required to be paid with the balance payment of the holiday. Where selected the Damage Deposit will be held by Discover Scotland to be applied against the reasonable costs of repairs, replacement or additional cleaning of furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glass, bedding and towels damaged or soiled other than by normal wear and tear during the holiday. The Damage Deposit, less any reasonable charges, will be returned within 14 days of the departure date. Where any costs exceed the Damage Deposit the holiday-maker will pay such excess as notified to them by Discover Scotland within 14 days of notification. Where the holiday-maker has agreed to pay the Damage Deposit Waiver the Damage Deposit is not payable. This amount is non-refundable. If the cost of any damage or breakages exceeds the applicable Damage Deposit value for the property, then the holiday-maker will be liable for any additional costs. Any such excess will be notified to them by Discover Scotland and due for payment within 14 days of notification.

All bookings require either a refundable Damage Deposit £150 or as per the property details or £20 non refundable Damage Deposit Waiver.
