The ancient former Lochpatrick Mill is assured to give you a unique and memorable holiday with the conversion having been completed with great care to preserve the Mill's unique character. It is well-equipped, very spacious yet cosy and comfortably furnished with full central heating and wood stoves. The house makes an ideal holiday base either for exploring the rich history and hills of the surrounding area or for quiet relaxation in the peaceful gardens. While in a very private and secluded location it is only ten minutes' drive from the bustling market town of Castle Douglas and within easy reach of the wonderful Solway Coast with quiet secluded beaches and awe inspiring cliff walks.
Surrounding the house are large attractive, well-maintained gardens which can be enjoyed from the burnside patios. The gardens include a small bowling green and tennis court, both available for use by holidaymakers. In addition, there is free, rough perch and pike fishing for house guests on two small lochs a pleasant five and ten minute walk away respectively.
Served by a quiet country road, ideal for walking or cycling, the house is only a few minutes' drive from the A75 Stranraer to Carlisle trunk road. The villages of Springholm and Crocketford, both with pubs serving meals and a village shop, are within a five minute drive. Castle Douglas, the Food Town, provides excellent shopping, with a number of hotels, pubs and restaurants. The Solway coast, with its wonderful scenery and extensive sandy beaches, is within a half hour's drive and there are a number of excellent, and in some cases testing, golf courses all within easy access, including the championship links course at Southerness.

Accommodation for 7 in The Mill and Annexe: Ground Floor: Spacious reception hall; Light and airy Kitchen/Dining room/Sitting room and patio door to outside; Shower room with toilet; Utility room. First Floor: Sitting room with wood burning stove; stair to book gallery with single sofa bed overlooking the main sitting room; Double sofa bed in the Mill Library; Master bedroom with King size bed and wood burning stove with French door to outside; Dressing room/office; Bathroom with over bath shower. In the annexe (which is in a separate building) there is one double bedroom with ensuite bathroom.


Accommodation for 9 in the Miller’s House: Ground Floor: Spacious entrance hall; Kitchen; Dining room/Living room with open fire; Sitting room with wood burning stove (and double sofa bed); Twin bedroom; Single bedroom; Bathroom (containing washing machine and drier) with bath, wash basin, WC and power shower over the bath. First Floor (with access by a fairly steep narrow staircase): Two double bedrooms; Bathroom with bath with power shower over, wash basin and WC.

Damage Deposit for care of property

All holiday-makers booking a holiday are required to pay either a Damage Deposit, £150 or as noted in the property listing details, or Damage Deposit waiver of £18, whichever is selected is required to be paid with the balance payment of the holiday. Where selected the Damage Deposit will be held by Discover Scotland to be applied against the reasonable costs of repairs, replacement or additional cleaning of furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glass, bedding and towels damaged or soiled other than by normal wear and tear during the holiday. The Damage Deposit, less any reasonable charges, will be returned within 14 days of the departure date. Where any costs exceed the Damage Deposit the holiday-maker will pay such excess as notified to them by Discover Scotland within 14 days of notification. Where the holiday-maker has agreed to pay the Damage Deposit Waiver the Damage Deposit is not payable. This amount is non-refundable. If the cost of any damage or breakages exceeds the applicable Damage Deposit value for the property, then the holiday-maker will be liable for any additional costs. Any such excess will be notified to them by Discover Scotland and due for payment within 14 days of notification.

All bookings require either a refundable Damage Deposit £150 or as per the property details or £18 non refundable Damage Deposit Waiver.
